Arsenal want to spend big this summer in order to build a squad capable of breaking back into the top four next season.
There are questions over the midfielders in the squad with many either not quite living up to expectations or being linked with moves away from the club and Arsene Wenger wants to strengthen this area of the pitch.
The Gunners are said to be interested in signing OGC Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri this summer, but face competition from Tottenham for his signature according to the Daily Mail.
Seri played a big role for Nice last season as the Ligue 1 side qualified for the Champions League next season and is on the radar of a number of clubs, including Barcelona, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claim.
Nice are adamant that Seri will only leave if his £35m release clause is met in full and have turned down a £20m bid from Serie A side Roma for their star midfielder.
