Arsenal to consider lowering Kieran Gibbs £15m price-tag

Arsenal may have to lower their £15 million valuation of full-back Kieran Gibbs after a host of interested clubs refused to meet the Gunners’ asking price, according to a report in the Evening Standard.

The likes of Watford, West Bromwich Albion, Stoke and newly promoted Brighton and Hove Albion have all been linked with a possible summer move for the defender.

However, all interested clubs have been put off by the £15m price-tag placed on Gibbs and are unwilling to match that figure to secure the player’s signature.

Gibbs started just eight Premier League games this season and he has been pushed further down the pecking order after the Gunners confirmed the signature of Bosnian Sead Kolisinac from Schalke

The defender only has one-year remaining on his contract with the Gunners, who may now have to lower his price this summer or lose the player for free in a years time.

Gibbs is currently on £60,000 a week at the North London club and is expecting a rise should he move to another club but his wage demands are putting off Brighton from making an offer.

He has ruled out a move to a Championship club as he looks to play in the Premier League so he can break into Gareth Southgate’s England plans. The 27-year-old missed out in the latest international squad even though Danny Rose was missing through injury, which is a major concern for him.
