Arsenal went into the second leg of the FA Youth Cup semi-final 2-1 down to Manchester City and needing to start well.
Steve Gatting picked a strong team going forward, with Stephy Mavididi leading the line. It was young winger, Chris Willock, however, who impressed initially with an early goal. Willock cut inside on to his favoured right foot, and curled the ball into the bottom corner to give Arsenal the lead.

As the game wore on, however, City began to get a foothold in the game and managed to go into the half time break 2-1 up – if it was slightly against the run of play.
In the second-half, City showed more experience and looked to solidify their lead. Arsenal brought on two substitutes in the second-half in Donyell Malen and Marcus McGuane, and looked instantly more threatening. Malen pounced on a lack of marking to head in Arsenal’s second from a corner.
Arsenal could not get the crucial third, and their chances were seemingly all over when Marc Bola put in a reckless challenge to put Arsenal down to 10 men.
The game ended in a draw, but City won overall, 4-3 on aggregate.
