Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that the Gunners came close to signing Kingsley Coman from Paris Saint-Germain, but the winger decided to pull the plug on the deal as he favoured a move to Italian giants Juventus.

Coman, who is now on loan at Bayern Munich, joined Juventus on a free transfer in the summer of 2014, and Wenger has admitted that he thought the newly-capped French international was on his way to the Emirates.

Bayern have the option to make the 19-year-old’s deal permanent in the summer, and it looks certain that they’ll do just that after his performances this season.

Coman has scored three goals in eight Bundesliga matches, and has created a further two for teammates and is earning huge plaudits in Germany.

For Arsenal, this is another case of one who got away as Coman has developed into one of the best young talents in European football.
