Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has heaped praise on the current Gunner’ shot-stopper Petr Cech and said that bringing him in was a major sign that Arsenal’s transfer policy has switched from a team who sells stars, to a team that now buys them.
Speaking at the Pride of Sport Awards, Seaman explained how big a signing Cech was and also how bringing him in was an example of that Arsenal are a team who bring in star players, when they used to have the reputation for selling them.
He’s a massive signing for Arsenal because it shows that they can attract those sorts of players and they are willing to pay the money. He’s a quality player who has won Premier Leagues and the Champions League and wants to come to Arsenal. We’re now attracting the big players rather than selling them. It’s a step in the right direction.
Seaman also spoke about Cech’s game and what aspects of it stood out to him.
I love the way he keeps goal – he’s not a showman. He just gets on with it, makes the save and then gets up.

The 52-year-old, who was capped by England 75 times, also spoke about Arsenal’s season and admitted to being concerned about the sheer number of injuries that they are picking up.
It’s a really good side when everybody’s fit, but at the moment they are struggling, although they are still getting results. If you look at the injury list it’s quite big, main players as well that would normally be in the team. We’re coping with that just. Coquelin’s injury’s a big blow because there’s nobody else like him in the squad at the moment. Once we get a few back we will be all right.
Regardless of which players are fit and playing, Arsenal will be desperate for three points when they face Norwich City on Sunday after they slipped up in their last league game against West Brom.
