Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb has given them a realistic chance of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

They’ll travel Greece to face Olympiacos knowing that a 2-0 win, or any win in which they score more than three goals, will be enough for them to progress into the last 16.

German defender Per Mertesacker has spoken about the chances of his side going to Greece and getting the result they need, and he thinks that the home team will be under more pressure, which could aid the Gunners’ chances.

It is a nightmare how we played the first two games but we have to face the truth and that is that we have to score more than one goal against Olympiacos.

It’s possible [to qualify] and they have more to lose. We are in a more difficult situation. It will be pressure for both teams and hopefully we can handle that better.

We believe that we can score goals. You saw [against Dinamo Zagreb] that we are always capable of doing that. Let’s go there without fear, respect our opponent but keep patient until the end.

The “nightmare” start the 31-year-old is referencing is the back-to-back defeats to Zagreb and Olympiacos that left the Gunners in a precarious position in the group.

However, the home wins against Bayern and Dinamo, plus the German’s putting four goals past Olympiacos, have given Arsene Wenger’s side a great opportunity to advance from the group, and it’s one they’ll be desperate to seize.
