Arsenal fans mock Sokratis after he’s pictured with Arteta in training

Mikel Arteta took his first training session as Arsenal manager on Sunday.

The Spaniard, who was officially appointed on Friday, was present at Goodison Park to see the Gunners draw 0-0 with Everton.

One man who was absent from the squad in Freddie Ljungberg’s final game as interim boss was defender Sokratis.

The 31-year-old was absent from the 18-man squad for the first time in the league this season, and he was captured in discussion with Arteta during the Sunday session.

A major overhaul at the back is needed in north London, so supporters could be right in claiming Sokratis’ time at the Emirates could be about to end.

He’s struggled to string a series of impressive performances together all season, and with William Saliba set to return in the summer, Arsenal may look to cash in on the Greek international over the next six months.
