Carlo Ancelotti may have already agreed to become Arsenal manager, according to reports from Italy.

The 60-year old Italian was sacked by Napoli on Tuesday night, despite having taken the Partenopei into the knockout stages of the Champions League with a 4-0 victory over Genk.

There has been plenty of unrest among the players at the San Paolo this season, and Ancelotti was forced to shoulder much of the responsibility for allegedly unsettling his side through his choice of management style and tactical approach.

Languishing in seventh place in the table, Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis made the decision to remove the Italian from his position, leaving many clubs to fight for his signature.

While Everton and West Ham are both reportedly interested, Sport Mediaset claim that the former Chelsea boss may have already reached an agreement with the Gunners.

The report claims that Ancelotti may already have reached an agreement to manage the club until 2021, and it would take a simple yes to finalise a deal that could be announced later today.

La Repubblica offer another story that supports this claim, reporting last night that Ancelotti had his “suitcases ready” to fly to London to hold talks ahead of succeeding Unai Emery at the Emirates.

Ancelotti may not appeal to Arsenal on a tactical level, but what he does wrong in that department, he makes up for in bringing a winner’s mentality.

Ancelotti’s Napoli spell may have marred his recent reputation, but it cannot take away his previous successes. With three Champions League titles to his name, Arsenal could do much worse than bringing in the experienced coach.
