Elneny hoping for Arsenal future after Leicester and West Ham failed with summer moves

Mohamed Elneny’s agent has revealed that both Leicester and West Ham made offers for the midfielder over the summer, while also admitting the Egyptian has hopes of a Gunners future.

The 27-year-old eventually joined Turkish giants Besiktas on a season-long loan.

He’s made just three appearances during the current campaign and has been linked with a permanent move to AC Milan in the new year.

And talking to Time Sport, cited by TEAMtalk, the player’s agent, Alaa Nazmy, addressed the midfielder’s summer deal.

Elneny received a lot of offers last summer, led by Leicester City, West Ham United and Valencia, but Besiktas managed to settle the deal with Arsenal.

Nazmy then went on to talk about the midfielder’s future, claiming it is possible for Elneny to return to north London next summer and push for a return to the first-team fold.

Emery didn’t ask for [Elneny’s] departure from Arsenal because of his performance, but [Elneny] demanded to take a chance to develop his performance and return again.

It is possible for him to play with Arsenal again and it still remains strong.

But can Elneny really force his way back into Unai Emery’s plans?

It would come as a real shock if Elneny ever turned out for the Gunners again in a competitive fixture.

The Egyptian marked his Besiktas debut with a red card and has struggled over the past 18 months for both club and country.

I think most fans would take an eight-figure fee for his services. Emery can now turn to the likes of Joe Willock and Matteo Guendouzi, who have both established themselves as first-team stars in front of the back four.

Elneny may well be hoping for an Arsenal future, but that decision could be out of his hands, especially if Milan firm up their reported permanent interest in January.
