Arsenal set to recall Carl Jenkinson early from loan

Arsenal are preparing to recall full-back Carl Jenkinson from his loan spell with Championship club Birmingham City after only appearing once for the side since the summer, according to a report on the Daily Mail.

Jenkinson joined Birmingham on a season long loan last summer but dislocated his shoulder in August, which has kept him out of action for some time.

The defender has found it difficult to fight back into the team and has not played a game for the championship side since the injury, which is a concern for his parent club Arsenal.

The Gunners are ready to recall him from the unsuccessful loan spell this month and hope to find another club willing to take the right-back on loan until the end of the season.

Jenkinson has struggled to get a run of games in any side throughout his career due to injury problems and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to see him playing as many games as possible.

The Gunners themselves are having problems defensively this season, with Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi picking up injuries on a regular basis.

25-year-old Jenkinson needs to continue to work hard to impress Wenger, who may then find a place for the Englishman in his squad.
