Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has praised returning striker Danny Welbeck, after the England international came back to action against Leicester City last Sunday.
The 25-year-old centre forward scored the winner against the Foxes at the Emirates Stadium in the 95th minute, a header which put the Gunners within just two points of the league leaders.
Welbeck was previously out for almost 10 months having suffered with a knee problem, which required surgery in the summer.
Having scored with almost his first touch for the north London side, Wenger, as reported by the club’s official website, claimed that the ex-Manchester United striker is a ‘big character’.

It’s always a good observation of character and the resilience of a person when they are injured for such a long time.
You look at how he resists the stress of not being able to play, how much he can respond with the effort he puts into his rehab, and how focused he can be every day when he goes step by step slowly.
I think he has become a stronger man with what happened to him. He is already experienced, physically he is back to his best, so I believe the best is still to come for him.

The Frenchman then said that he has yet to decide if Welbeck will make his full return on Saturday afternoon, when the Gunners take on Hull City in the FA Cup fifth round.
I haven’t decided yet.
I think he became a stronger man after what happened. He is back to his best.

Welbeck could return to the starting lineup, along with the likes of Mohamed Elneny, Alex Iwobi and Calum Chambers, all of whom played against Burnley in the fourth round.
