Wenger rules out Terry signing

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that his side will not be making a move for John Terry.

The England and Chelsea legend confirmed on Sunday evening that while he would not be retiring at the end of the season, his current club are not renewing his contract, therefore ending his career with the west London club.

Terry has been hugely successful at Chelsea, winning multiple trophies, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

While fans of the Blues are outraged at that the club are allowing Terry, who they still believe to be the club’s best defender, to leave, many others are jumping aboard the ship of wanting to sign him.

Wenger, however, in his news conference as reported by the club’s official website, confirmed that Arsenal will NOT be bringing the experienced Premier League defender to north London.

No [he won’t sign], because he is at the end of his career and he has spent his career at Chelsea. If he wants to play longer, I am sure he will play for Chelsea.

He was not only a great player, he certainly still is, but he was also a great coach on the pitch. I saw him here once at London Colney playing with the under-21s and the way he coached the team as a player was absolutely marvellous. He was a real leader and he had a great career as well, let’s not forget that. That’s never a coincidence. The guys who last such a long time have something special. He was the symbol of cohesion inside Chelsea’s club because him, Lampard, Drogba and Cech were the players who carried the club’s values for long periods. When you lose players like that you’re always in danger.
