Wenger confirms Arsenal close to signing Nwakali & Chukwueze

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club are close to completing a double signing this month.

Nigerian super talents Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze are both on the verge of joining the Gunners, with it believed the former flew into London to complete a medical yesterday.

As Read Arsenal reported on Thursday evening, Nwakali confirmed himself that he is closing in on joining the club, with both moves likely to cost in the region of £3m, a potential bargain swoop.

Speaking in his pre-match news conference prior to the FA Cup fourth round tie against Burnley at the Emirates, as reported by the Mirror Online, Wenger confirmed that while there are are a few issues in the way of completion, both deals are close.

Yes. The (talks) are progressing well.

Yes of course there are work permit issues. There are medical issues, because they have to make medicals. It’s progressing well.

We identified Nwakali as the player of the tournament, basically, and as a top player. We will see if we can manage to get it over the line during this transfer period. [If we can], we will do it. He (Chukwueze) is signing as well.

The two Nigerian talents, who both helped their nation to under-17 World Cup glory in November, will likely go straight into the academy and work with the likes of Thierry Henry and Andries Jonker.
