Team News: Liverpool vs. Arsenal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger provided an update on the team fitness, during his pre-match news conference prior to the fixture against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

The Gunners have been short of a number of stars recently, including the likes of Alexis Sanchez, David Ospina and long-term absentee, Tomas Rosicky.

Wenger provided an update on the three north London stars.

Speaking on Ospina, the Frenchman, as reported by the club’s official website, claimed that he has to face further tests in order to find out if he will be fit to face the Reds.

Ospina is a muscular issue and we have to check if he will be available or not. Overall I think he has a 60/40 chance to make it.

Long-term absentee Rosicky has been out injured for the last 211 days, however, Wenger confirmed the experienced Czech Republic international will return to full training this week.

He will be back in full training this week, it is fantastic because he has been out for very long and it is good to know that a player of that calibre is back in our squad.

It was bad news on the Alexis front. The Chilean will not make it back in time to face Jurgen Klopp’s side this week and will struggle to be available for the game against Stoke City at the Britannia on Sunday.

We think he will be short for Wednesday, he has a chance to be available for Sunday [against Stoke]. He is always keen to play. If you listen to Alexis, he can always play – even when he is injured. We try to be cautious. With a muscular injury you never exactly how big the risk but he is very close. If you look at him training he is very close.
