Arsene Wenger has heaped praise upon Mesut Ozil, claiming he is now the ‘complete athlete’.
The German has stunned for Arsenal this campaign, bagging himself a stunning 16 assists in just 19 Premier League fixtures.
The record puts the German at just four behind Thierry Henry’s record of 20, with Ozil set to break it if he continues his impressive form.
Speaking on Ozil, Arsenal boss Wenger claimed that the 27-year-old is now much improved and has become a leader both on and off the pitch.

I think he plays in a position that suits him well.
He plays in a style of football that suits him well. He is, today, maybe more in a more comfortable psychological position because he’s accepted and not so much questioned than he was in the years before.
This season he was not stopped by injuries and I believe that he arrives at an age – 27 – that you think ‘it’s time for me to really be efficient in every single game, and I want to enjoy every single game’.
When he was injured for a long period he worked very hard physically. He is a complete athlete. I also believe he has grown in stature and takes responsibilities, leadership in the team and on that front he has improved tremendously and looks determined to lead the team compared to when he arrived.

Ozil has linked up stunningly with teammates this season, finding the winning touch and combination with the likes of Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey in the absence of Alexis Sanchez.
The ex-Real Madrid midfielder previously linked up with Alexis stunningly, but without the Chilean, Ozil has been able to strengthen partnerships with other players in the Gunners side.
Ozil will be expected to continue his stunning form in the new year, when Arsenal take on Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.
