Arsene Wenger believes that the form Leicester City are showing this season is positive, not just for the Premier League but for all of world football.
The Foxes struggled last season, barely surviving in England’s top division but having hired Claudio Ranieri in the summer, have gone from strength to strength, losing just once in the Premier League – to Arsenal.
After defeating Manchester United on Monday evening, Ranieri’s side have a genuine chance to top the Premier League going into Christmas and the new year. Wenger believes that the story of the Foxes is something football ‘needs’.

Not only for English football, it’s good for everybody in football all over the world to see that teams who are not on the biggest budget at the start can compete as well.
There’s always a way to be successful when you’re intelligent and competent. Of course that’s very positive and they’ve shown another fantastic performance on Monday night [against Chelsea].
I always took them seriously but when we won 5-2 over there, nobody took our performance seriously.
They just thought it was normal that we won at Leicester, but ever since you have been able to see that it was a great result and a great performance on the day.

Leicester face Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon, a fixture which will certainly prove difficult but a win would see them top the world’s most difficult league going into Christmas day – the perfect present for loyal supporters all over the world.
Meanwhile, if the Foxes fail to beat Everton and Arsenal capitalise by beating Manchester City on Monday, the Gunners will go into the Christmas break atop the table.
