Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reaffirmed his belief in Mathieu Debuchy, after it was revealed that the Frenchman would be starting in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League tie with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
Usual starter Hector Bellerin has been ruled out with injury and Wenger confirmed in his pre-match news conference that Debuchy would start and admitted that having started and struggled against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough in the shock 3-0 loss, he should be physically fine to feature.

Debuchy will play and I’m confident.
I trust Debuchy, he is a 100 per cent educated player in the box and in training.
Fortunately he played a full game against Sheffield Wednesday and physically he should be well.
The Gunners struggled in the first two games of Europe’s elite competition, losing both fixtures to Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos respectively, but face Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening in a tie which could see them reach the same number as points in Group F as the defending German champions.

Debuchy will be tasked with the key battle of the tricky Brazilian Douglas Costa, who troubled Bellerin in the reverse fixture – a tie which Arsenal won 2-0.
