Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed fears that Francis Coquelin would, in fact, be out for three months, rather than the two initially stated by the Gunners boss.
At the Frenchman’s pre-match news conference for the Dinamo Zagreb fixture, Wenger admitted that the midfielder would be out for at least two months, but was still waiting on the results of his scan and having done so, confirmed that Coquelin would miss at least three months of football.

It is what we feared basically. Let’s be realistic, it will be 12 weeks.
Despite the bad news, Wenger highlighted the fact that the 24-year-old’s injury would not mean he required surgery – a small positive from an otherwise disruptive injury.

No. He does not need surgery. It was a knee ligament so it will be 12 weeks.
The Gunners replaced Coquelin with Mathieu Flamini in their 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb, as the Frenchman lined up alongside Santi Cazorla in the middle of the park. It’s likely that the former AC Milan midfielder will also start on Sunday afternoon at Carrow Road against Alex Neil’s Norwich City.
